Abstract

This study aims to compare knowledge and technology achievements as innovation outputs in Southeast Asian countries. Innovation can drive a country’s economic progress, making it crucial for Indonesia to perform comparative analyses with other countries as a basis for decision-making, particularly policies related to enhancing the innovation climate. This research uses Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam as comparator countries to Indonesia. The sample used to measure knowledge and technology as innovation outputs is the sub-scores from the Global Innovation Index issued by the World Intellectual Property Organization from 2011 to 2023. The research method employed is ANOVA to test the mean differences between groups. The results indicate significant differences in knowledge and technology among the countries, with Malaysia and Vietnam having the highest average outputs. The implications of this study suggest that the Indonesian government needs to provide policies and investments that can stimulate relevant stakeholders to enhance their innovation productivity in developing knowledge and creating new technologies. Further research could identify the factors influencing the innovation productivity of stakeholders in the development of knowledge and technology.
