Strategi Efisiensi Biaya Operasional Klinik Baru untuk Meminimalkan Risiko Kerugian: Studi Kasus pada Klinik iSmile Dental Care Northwest Surabaya

Abstract

Newly established clinics often struggle to maintain financial stability because of high operating costs and fluctuating patient volumes. Without effective cost-management strategies, these conditions can lead to financial losses. This study aims to analyze the implementation of operational cost efficiency, the obstacles encountered, and the strategies applied to minimize losses at iSmile Dental Care Northwest Surabaya. This study used a qualitative case study approach. Informants included two owners, one dentist, one head nurse, and one finance staff member, selected via purposive sampling. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion-drawing techniques. The results indicate that operational cost efficiency is achieved through routine cost monitoring and evaluation, control of medical consumable consumption, inventory management, and optimized use of medical equipment. Challenges faced include the high cost of medical materials and equipment, equipment maintenance expenses, and unstable patient numbers. To address these issues, the clinic employs a dual strategy comprising cost control and revenue enhancement—the latter achieved through social media promotion and improved service quality. These strategies enable the clinic to control expenditures, sustain operations, and minimize the risk of financial loss without compromising the quality of patient care
